WHAT IS DIRECT PRIMARY CARE?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a relatively new model of providing health care. It is personal primary care without the interference of insurance companies, or other third parties.  Although we treat patients who have health insurance, no insurance is taken or billed. Patients pay a modest fee directly to the practice in the form of a monthly membership. In return, patients receive quality health care that is affordable with no hidden costs. This is extremely cost-effective for those with a high deductible health insurance plan or those without any insurance at all.

With DPC, you have more immediate access to your doctor. You will be seen the same day or the next day from when you request your appointment. No more hours of waiting in a packed waiting room!

Members receive enhanced direct access to their doctor, with the ability to communicate by e-mail, text, or phone at their convenience.  No more waiting on hold just to talk to a nurse or receptionist hoping the doctor receives your message that day!

DPC also provides more personalized care that is focused on you and your needs.  With visits that last on average 30-60 minutes, your doctor will really get to know what you need in your health journey.  Get the time to ask the questions you have and receive answers!

With DPC, your doctor is responsible to you and only you (not some insurance company), so they become a real partner and advocate for your health care.

Direct Primary Care

  • Appointments same day or next day

  • Transparent fixed affordable costs

  • Lower numbers of patients per practice (one doctor usually takes care of no more than 300-500 patients)

  • Extended visit times to adequately address patient concerns

  • Time available to focus on overall health and preventative care

  • Flexible communication with a physician who knows you

Traditional Care

  • Appointments available several days or weeks out from your call

  • Confusing price structure, with copays, facility fess, and unexpected charges

  • 2,000-3,000 patients per practice

  • Office visits that last 10-15 minutes with little time to address multiple concerns

  • Little time to discuss health and wellness

  • Communication is limited and usually routed through office staff or electronic medical record
